Sanitation Worker

JOB TITLE: Sanitation Worker CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt DEPARTMENT: Public Works/Transfer Station SUPERVISOR: Assigned Drivers, Foreman, and/or Transfer Station Manager SALARY: $33,280 to $38,272 annually

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

To perform sanitation collection services for commercial and residential accounts for the city; and to perform minor maintenance and cleaning activities on sanitation heavy equipment.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform sanitation collection services for City commercial accounts.
• After dumping, clean active floor and replace safety chains and ensure rail(s) are in place.
• Perform minor maintenance activities on sanitation heavy equipment; clean sanitation equipment; clean and maintain dumpster yard.
• Perform work activities according to safe work practices and procedures.
• Clean and maintain all containment areas commercial route.
• Assist in operating sanitation collection equipment.
• Assist in pre-trip inspections daily.
• Perform proper safety procedures while riding on the back of a Rear Load Truck.
• Report any safety issues to supervisor and/or Safety Coordinator.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
• Wear designated PPE when required - Hard hat, safety vest, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and gloves.

Ability to Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work.

Knowledge of principles and practices of sanitation collection services.

Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
