Service Market Logistics (SML) is an organization within Volvo Group Truck Operations (GTO). Our responsibilities are to design, manage and optimize the supply chain of aftermarket parts for all Volvo Group brands. In North America we support Mack and Volvo Trucks, Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Penta, and several Volvo Bus brands. The scope of SML includes transport of material to warehouses, inventory management, management of packaging, and dealer order fulfillment. We ensure that all logistics services are delivered with world class operational excellence utilizing continuous improvement mindset and strive for people development.

Mission and Purpose of the Position

  • Team leader Operation Support is a leadership position that requires shop floor presence and UAW membership.

  • Support the development of the continuous improvement (VPS) culture in the organization.

  • Use robust problem-solving methods to determine root causes for deviations and work to solutions to ensure high Quality performance in the field (Dealers).

  • Implement change through standardized work processes using the 4-step training approach.

  • Improve the warehouse efficiency looking on parts distribution on the racks and aisles, based on VOC principles (flows, ABC slotting, Quality).

  • Be a reference on WMS system improvements and training.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for Operations Support performance team (clerical, maintenance, quality, housekeeping and porter) in terms of SQDCEP.

  • Increase safety culture via regular GEMBA walks, safety dialogue and ergonomic analysis. Document and report all safety accidents and near misses to FLM. Support analysis and corrective actions as requested.

  • Support a people development and process improvement using VPS mindset and VOC concepts. (5S, PSM, SOP, teamwork, skill matrix, flow, etc.).

  • Perform and assist with root cause analysis regarding dealers’ claims.

  • Ensure standard operating procedures are in place and being followed.

  • Be the key-user for WMS representing Baltimore RDC in forums and train the workforce on it.

  • Monitoring daily housekeeping PI’s such ABC slotting, sales multiples mismatch, MDR queue, multiple SKU at same location, parts in suspense, locked inventory.

  • Support planning and execution of autonomous and preventive maintenance activities.

  • Lead daily performance meetings with assigned team reporting.

  • Document any non-conformance to procedures or work rules and present to FLM.

  • Support overall timekeeping and attendance tracking of the team.

  • Replace team members when they are absent or on other assignment as per FLM direction.

  • Assist FLM toward motivating team members to improve performance.

  • Assist team members when issues arise (quality, productivity, etc.) leading improvement teams as needed.

  • Ensure adherence to environmental policies and procedures.

  • Assist FLM with the identification of training needs for team members and facilitate the training of new team members and temporary employees.

  • Empower teams through the approval and implementation of ideas using the idea generation program.

  • Support FLM to develop improvement plans that contribute to the overall DC improvement roadmap.

  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the area FLM or manager.

  • Promotes the Volvo Group values and culture.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in a similar function in warehouse, manufacturing or logistics is required.

  • Proficient in MS Office.

  • Knowledge in WMS.

  • Knowledge in Lean Principles through formal training preferred.

  • Operate MHE. Certification preferred.
