UL, LLC Operations Leader- SAR in Fremont, California

This role is #Hybrid requiring candidates to be local to our Fremont, CA location.

  • Serves as Project Lead or Reviewer on complete test programs covering all testing technologies as assigned.

  • Communicates project status and results to clients and sales through frequent contact.

  • Holds responsibility for defining project scope, test plan, report review and accuracy, meeting of agreed deadlines, and managing project related activities.

  • Coordinates laboratory activities and instructions to lab staff, scheduling testing and reviewing lab work to keep project completion dates.

  • Studies and understands test standards, testing technology, and regulations for scope of responsibility.

  • May represent UL at industry related functions such as seminars, trade shows or standards committees.

  • Serves as the SME for local office and key customers for standards, industry and certification programs.

  • Has detailed understanding of test techniques, procedures, and equipment.

  • Performs standard test procedures when necessary.

  • Provides training to lab staff when necessary.

  • Finds solutions and supports customer products in lab.

  • Manages training to support needed capacity and quality of testing.

  • Follows up on contacts from clients and communicates technical issues, Test Standard explanations, certification requirements and UL procedures and requirements.

  • Acts to address client concerns and resolve issues for the local office.

  • Ensures proper communication and support of the customer needs from the team.

  • Supports Sales staff to determine project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing client input, available supplemental data, and product construction for the local office.

  • Works with Sales and customer to negotiate completion dates and sample requirements.

  • Meets with key customers to understand activities and needs.

  • Ensures Leadership Team is aware of the feedback.

  • Manages a team of staff to Title Responsibilities and CBS Role goals.

  • Sets Goals and provides feedback on achievements through regular communications and Performance Appraisal process for Lab/Engineering Team.

  • Responsible for Revenue production for area of responsibility and cost management of the team.

  • Understands and evaluates costs to produce revenue.

  • Takes actions to adjust or manage costs.

  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job for the local office.

  • Manages and reviews related internal documents for accuracy.

  • Develops special test methods and test equipment for new standards, test requirements, or improved efficiency, when needed.

  • Likely to support the business externally through travelling to meetings at client sites, attendance at industry related events and other meetings.

  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

  • University Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an accredited program plus generally ten years of directly related work experience or equivalent education and experience.

  • Experience in Managing an ISO17025 accredited laboratory.

  • Working knowledge of EMC/Wireless SAR Testing.

  • Total Rewards: .The salary range for this position is $114,300.00-$129,540.00+ and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position. All employees at UL Solutions are eligible for annual bonus compensation. UL offers a generous 401k matching structure of up to 5% of eligible pay. Additionally, we invest an additional 4% into your retirement saving fund after your first year of continuous employment. We provide Healthcare Reimbursement Accounts and Health Savings Accounts that UL contributes to twice per year! Depending on your role, you can work with your manager on flexible working arrangements. We also provide employees with paid time off including vacation, holiday, sick and volunteer time off.
