As a key technical contributor to New Product Development, a SR Project Engineer for Valving and Controls Engineering is uniquely positioned to identify and drive new innovations, develop exceptional products, and create great user experiences. If you’re the type of engineer who likes to get into the details of a design, this position working with the core of valving and electronics that drive performance is for you. You will have opportunities to expand your experience in engineered plastics, electronics, metals, elastomers, and manufacturing processes. Working in highly cross-functional teams, you will innovate, design, test, and validate to develop products that delight consumers. You will drive robust design while balancing speed to market and cost drivers, leading to quality products which will directly contribute to Kohler’s leadership in the global kitchen and bath industry.

How You’ll Contribute

  • Show your skills: Apply engineering fundamentals and structured problem solving to design and validate components, subsystems, and products. Own technical feasibility analysis of new concepts. Test and qualify innovations.Collaborate with engineering peers for insight, feedback, and in-depth review.

  • Collaborate to succeed: Partner with your cross-functional teammates in Marketing, Purchasing, Quality, Manufacturing, Program Management, and Industrial Design. Face the hard decisions head-on and use the variety of team perspectives to generate better solutions. Recommend next steps and drive alignment with business leadership to launch quality products with speed and consistency.

  • Utilize Global Talent: Engage Centers of Excellence and Technical Centers around the globe to complete project deliverables and promote parts reuse.

  • Help make us better: Evaluate designs for environmental sustainability to push the envelope for Materials and Electro-mechanical designs.Visit customers and engage experts to understand installation needs and opportunities for quality improvements.

  • Structure and coordinate test requests, prototype builds, bills of materials, engineering timelines, technical communications, and other engineering activities in support of new product launches.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Generates and advises on product specifications: customer, regulatory, and technical requirements.

  • Assures functional acceptability through application of engineering tools, analysis, and testing. This includes prototyping, simulation, DFA, DFMEA and qualification.

  • Prepares detailed projects and/or technical plans for product development and/or improvement.

  • Interfaces with senior engineers, support personnel, and outside groups involving product design, documentation, development, drafting, prototype construction, and test of product concepts.

  • Documents and presents experiences to share knowledge within and outside the department.

  • Utilizes 3D CAD software (PTC Creo) for the realization of concepts or designs.

  • Programs, tests, and debugs electromechanical systems to prove out designs.

  • Occasional travel to visit suppliers, customers, tradeshows, and other Kohler locations as required.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electromechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.

  • A minimum of 4 years related work experience in an Electromechanical design position.

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (PTC Creo preferred).

  • Familiarity with electronics prototyping design programs and techniques (Breadboard, Aurduino, etc.).

  • Ability to work independently and with a cross-functional team.

  • Ability to independently test, analyze and solve technical problems.

  • Must exhibit excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

The salary range for this position is $89,800 - $114,100. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
