Job Description Summary:
An Operator is responsible for running his or her respective machine safely while producing a high-quality product, optimizing efficiency. In most cases, the Operator sets up, adjusts, and operates the machine(s), as well as performs quality checks. The Operator is also responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, disassembly and reassembly as scheduled and needed.

Perform first level maintenance on respective machinery
Perform routine checks to ensure a safety and quality product
Complete all required paperwork and/or tablet/computer work accurately and timely
Ability to effectively communicate with all personnel
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions relating to the operation
Ability to operate a variety of equipment such as simple hand tools and hand-powered hydraulic material handling devices
Ability to read charts and historical data to determine if product produced is within specifications
May be required to taste and evaluate product which may contain allergens including but not limited to, Milk
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the tasks and responsibilities of the job.
Ability to stand, sit, walk, and use hands and fingers in order to handle objects and controls
Ability to reach above shoulders, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
Ability to navigate stairs and ladders throughout the facility
Ability to routinely lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
Ability to push and/or pull manual material handling equipment up to a 2200-pound load
Specific vision requirements of the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The job may involve exposure to an electromagnetic alternating field both within its aperture as well as in the area around the metal detector. This generates a weak electric current in all objects that enter this field. Persons with implants such as pacemakers or implanted defibrillators, blood-glucose sensors which are sensitive to alternating electromagnetic fields, must not work with the metal detector x-ray. Persons with electrically conductive implants such as artificial limbs, titanium plates, bone pins, braces or dental gold can be injured as well as experience pain or discomfort if working with the metal detector.

Minimum Qualification and Experience
High School Diploma and/or equivalent experience preferred
1-2+ years of individually operating manufacturing equipment preferred
Effectively handle real time decisions that have a direct impact on the process through expert knowledge of automated equipment
Effectively handle several complex situations, technical equipment, problems and/or tasks at once
Function as a team member and contribute to group goals
Effectively apply knowledge to troubleshoot in order to solve a range of problems
Work independently with minimum supervision in a responsible manner
Maintain the integrity of confidential business and product information
Take initiative to recognize areas of opportunity and resolve with appropriate action
Maintain Bel’s standards of quality by demonstrating the ability to consistently deliver accurate results in a timely manner so as not to cause unnecessary downtime
Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices as stated within the policy.
Follow all Safety Rules and procedures by working safely and ensuring safety of others.
Follow all food safety procedures.
Follow all environmental protocols as applicable to job to prevent pollution to air, land, or water.
Follow all sanitation procedures and work instructions.
Follow all continuous improvement actions and rules and best practices.
Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.

The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts in wet humid conditions, varying temperatures, and in proximity to cleaning chemicals, fumes, wet floors, low clearance areas, and air-born particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and sources of vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Protective Equipment: Employees must wear personal protective equipment, as required, which could include an assigned work uniform, hair and beard net, safety glasses, designated shoes, hard hat and ear protection. Additional equipment may be required to follow all safety rules and procedures by working safely and ensuring the safety of others.
