Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Project Engineer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 4425470 THE POSITION The Port Authority of Philadelphia is seeking a Project Engineer to provide engineering and administrative assistance to the Director of Engineering. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This Project Engineer position assists in planning for new facilities and the rehabilitation or modernization of existing terminal facilities by preparing plans, specifications, and estimates for construction work and overseeing construction. This includes working with and overseeing the efforts of design consultants and construction management firms. The incumbent will also oversee multiple projects in various stages of development and completion as well as supply information and recommendations for use during construction work including technical advice to design, construction, and maintenance personnel. Most engineering projects will require the incumbent to perform a construction management role and require management of the project from concept through the end of the construction warrantee period. This position also maintains working relationships with pier tenants, PhilaPort Operations and Maintenance, consulting engineers, and contractors to ensure cost effective and on-schedule projects. Other responsibilities include assisting in the department's expenditure decisions for maintenance or construction work as necessary and maintaining the department's as-built drawings and project files.

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering discipline from an accredited institution, with a minimum 5 years relevant work experience. Professional Engineer licensure in Pennsylvania, or a Professional Engineering license issued in another state with the ability to obtain a Pennsylvania PE within 6 months of hire.

Additional Requirements: You must have experience in Microsoft Suite Programs, Blue Beam, and AutoCAD. You must have knowledge of OSHA regulations pertaining to heavy construction as well as the International Building Code. You must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of management, government agencies, and the general public. You must be highly organized and self-motivated, with excellent time management skills. You must possess a valid US Drivers License and the ability to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) card. You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

Design and construction experience in dredging, pile driving, concrete and asphalt paving, sprinkler systems, electrical distribution and sewer and water lines, industrial building, and heavy marine construction experience with demonstrated knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering principles (e.g., design, plans and specifications preparation, and estimating).
