Project Engineer

Our exciting growth has identified the need to add a Project Engineer to join our team! The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual that enjoys innovation while supporting a variety of engineering initiatives in the medical device industry and that has a passion for creating robust, reliable products with a strong commitment to quality.

Overview of the Role

Our Project Engineers are responsible for planning, coordinating, and conducting engineering initiatives that support all phases of the product development lifecycle from concept to completion and sustaining product engineering with a focus on quality and regulatory compliance.

Who You'll Work With

You will report to the Vice President of Engineering while working closely with New Product Development Engineers, Design & Fabrication Engineers, and other Project Engineers to support assigned projects.

Major Accountabilities:

  • Develop detailed project plans outlining timelines, milestones, resource requirements and deliverables.

  • Maintain project progress by identifying potential risks and implementing action that keeps projects on track.

  • Establish and coordinate effective collaboration with cross-functional teams including New Product Development Engineers, Business Development, Manufacturing, Marketing, suppliers, and patent attorneys.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Designs medical devices, prototypes, testing fixtures, and anatomical simulators.

  • Establishes test requirements and develop/direct testing of new product prototypes to verify product reliability.

  • Leads validation and verification activities.

  • Successful implementation of new products into manufacturing with regard to inherent quality, cost, and manufacturability.

  • Reviews technical problems and procedures of products, recommending solutions or applicable changes.

  • Maintains an understanding of clinical needs through research and meeting with clinicians.

  • Completes all regulatory, compliance, and quality documentation as applicable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical and/or technical experience working in the medical device field

  • Proficiency in CAD software for design and drafting

  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
