Role Purpose:

The Manager – Distribution Operations Support is a department leader with strong operational experience relating to the monitoring and operation of the electric distribution network. Primary role is to oversee and direct the 24-hour distribution operation control (DOC) center, GIS data services and distribution automation functions in support of all distribution field personnel to deliver exceptional service to Cleco customers. This involves collaborating with operations leaders to understand the needs of field personnel, and then establishing strategies to continually improve business processes. Proper staffing levels and an engaged staff are key to this critical business function, including the development and performance management of varying technical team members.

  • Ensures distribution system data is maintained accurately and reliability to provide efficient access to all end users to effectively perform system design changes and to safety and effectively operate the network.

  • Works to understand the operational needs of the various groups relying on distribution data, systems and support personnel, and drives appropriate changes to address those needs.

  • Effectively manages the 24-hour control center to ensure proper staffing to address regular work management and outage management responsibilities. Ensures all orders are assigned and monitored to respond to customer requests, outages and emergencies in a timely manner.

  • Ensures operational data is properly captured and maintained to help drive reliability improvements through effective analysis of available data. Regularly monitors performance data and metrics to support continuous improvement measures.

  • Manages the overall DA support function to ensure new devices and systems are implemented according to defined schedules and budgets. Ensures thorough provisioning is completed for safe and accurate control and monitoring of field devices.

Qualifications

Required Education, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum

  • 7-10+ years of related experience

  • 2-5+ years people management experience, preferred

  • Knowledge of standard business practices and professionalism

  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees to address difficult issues

  • Ability to manage high workloads and conflicting priorities

  • Ability to operate effectively and proactively with an employee centric mindset

  • Detailed-oriented and high work standards in support of seamless execution
