Microsoft Corporation Principal International Project Engineering Lead in Redmond, Washington

The Business Applications and Platform International Engineering (BAP IE) group supports a wide range of Business Application products such as Dynamics 365 Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, Finance, Commerce, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power Pages to name a few, including all relevant copilots and generative AI features.

We are looking for a Principal International Project Engineering Lead to join our growing team on our journey to make Business Applications products and their copilots truly global.

In this role, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our global products by leading and managing our international engineering efforts. This position requires an understanding of globalization, localizability and localization technologies, extensive experience in software development, and experience in leading products/features global releases and in multiple languages

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Own all aspects of the software internationalization process of the assigned product portfolio, delivering global ready experiences in multiple languages per our market strategy requirements.

  • Lead and mentor a geo-distributed team of international project engineers.

  • Provide technical leadership on the topics of world readiness and localization engineering, ensuring best practices and innovative solutions are applied to meet project requirements.

  • Engage with product teams to review product releases from an internationalization support perspective. Drive required changes to ensure global readiness.

  • Contribute to BAP IE localization engineering systems through continued optimization of processes and workflows, including design of new solutions and driving features to implementation.

  • Partner with external localization supplier for smooth localization operations (assess/define/communicate processes) ensure time and cost-efficient solutions.

  • Stay current with advancements in what globalization and localizability looks like for new technologies like Gen AI and in localization solutions. Recommend and drive enhancements to existing workflows

  • Some international travel

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years people management experience.

  • 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 6+ years of experience working in software localization engineering, and project management.

  • 6+ years of experience enabling world readiness experiences and shipping products internationally.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter..

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Business Applications products and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

  • Experience with Open AI and LLM.

Technical Program Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
