Position Summary

Bechtel Nuclear, Security, and Environmental (NS&E) is seeking an Operations Manager within the Defense and Space business line, responsible for the management of assigned projects or functional areas and implementing strategies to assist the business in meeting its critical goals and objectives in the most efficient manner possible.

Responsibilities

  • Provides management guidance and monitors the performance of Projects and operations in the NS&E Global Business Unit (GBU). Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Overseeing engineering, procurement, construction and startup activities.

  • Reviewing and approving project plans, cost estimates, budgets and schedules.

  • Evaluates the health of customer relationships and potential risk to the company.

  • Directs overall operations to ensure that all programs and projects are delivered within contract requirements, standards of quality, established budgets and schedules, and to customer and GBU performance expectations.

  • Directs Managers of Projects, Assistant Managers of Operations, and Project Managers to ensure that projects are properly serviced and that all project operations are promptly handled.

  • Coordinates with, and supports, Marketing and Business Development in developing market strategies, expanding current work, evaluating prospects and proposal technical and pricing strategies, assessing of teaming partners, and preparation of estimating and execution plans, including project organization and staffing of key positions. Also supports meetings and presentations with Customers during pre-proposal phases and follow-up contacts during execution.

  • Coordinates with Functional Managers in providing functional expertise to projects, the management of functional personnel, and the resolution of project functional execution.

  • Ensuring budgets, schedules, safety, and quality meet company requirements.

  • Ensuring conformance to Bechtel Personnel Policies, Management Instructions, and all other Bechtel Policies and Procedures. Implements guidelines and procedures to comply with these requirements.

  • Personally, assists and advises other business line operations and GBU senior leadership as requested.

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field; Master’s degree preferred

  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in the EPC industry (Department of Defense and Space Program experience is advantageous

  • Must posses a proven track record at improving customer relationships

  • Strong skills in managing projects from end to end

  • Skillful management of people and performances with a positive impact

  • Prior experience successfully managing profit and loss

Additional Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of construction, engineering, procurement and other project related activities, their interfaces and interdependencies.

  • Broad general experience and education; rotation through and exposure to several functions across Bechtel projects.

  • Proficiency and experience in:

  • Project Management

  • Construction and engineering management staffing, estimating and budgeting & scheduling business development

  • Business administration and management
