Plant HW Milling| Rough Mill Operator Technician Shift 3 |$22.02

Position Overview

Position Objective: Run the Rough Saw safely and efficiently with the maximum amount of production and a minimal amount of off-quality. Inspect the product for quality.

Essential Duties:

  1. Make machine/process adjustments on line and on computer.

  2. Follow specific instructions on each order.

  3. Achieve set quality standards.

  4. Monitor parameters such as speed and pressure.

  5. Make adjustments to settings to accommodate different thickness and widths of boards.

  6. Overall visual control of the entire line.

  7. Run boards down the line after parts have been replaced by maintenance and when troubleshooting any problems.

    a. Contact Supervisor or Lead if any problems exist.

  8. Visual inspections of products for defects and grading.

  9. Complete computerized quality reports.

  10. Perform quality checks.

  11. Keep machines and work areas clean and free of dust.

  12. Read and analyze charts and graphs.

  13. Take measurements as required.

  14. Keep all materials pulled from the machine in a designated area.

  15. Ensure no panels or planks are left lying on the floor or leaned on the fence.

  16. Throw away used sand paper and boxes.

  17. Willing to be an On the Job Trainer (OJT)

    1. Technician will assist in the Handling position and giving breaks.

    a. The Technician will be responsible:

    i. For knowing how to operate the control console for the right and left inspection line.

    ii. Assisting the handler at the reject area on the sorting of the good and defective planks.

Non-Essential Duties:

  1. Must be a team player.

  2. Take an active role in committees.

  3. Cross-train for other jobs on rough mill.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be able to bend, squat, and stoop several times a day.

  2. Must be able to stand for 8 – 12 hours a day.

  3. Must be able to climb stairs several times throughout the day.

  4. Must be able to assist in lifting up to 75 lbs. several times a day.

5.Must be able to lift 35-50 lbs. on a regular basis throughout the day.

  1. Must be able to handle the stress of meeting goals and production requirements.

  2. Must be able to visualize defects in the product.

  3. Must be able to visualize color defects in the product.

Other Requirements:

  1. Basic reading, writing, and math ability.

  2. Must be able to operate a lift truck once trained.

  3. Must be capable of learning and performing additional operations

  4. Must be capable of being trained on current computer systems and software.

Training Requirements:

  1. On the job training

  2. Must have all OSHA, SAFE, SMS, and plant specific training.

  3. Certified Lift Truck training

Tool, Equipment, & Material Requirements:

  1. Safety Glasses

  2. PPE listed on JHA

Safety & Security Requirements:

  1. Must comply with all required OSHA, SAFE, and plant specific safety rules and regulations.

  2. Refer to the Plant JHA (Job Hazard Analysis) for this job for the prevention of accidents.

Work Shift

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to out-punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts PM
