WSP USA Brine Facility Operator in Salt Lake City, Utah

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Brine Facility Operator for our Delta, Utah Facilities .

Duties and Responsibilities:

The position posted is associated with WSP USA’s Cavern Solution Mining Operations. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial facilities operations position. Expected contractual duration is from January 2023 to July 2025.

The main responsibility is to operate and maintain the solution mining facility for ACES Delta I under contractual arrangement with WSP USA Inc in Delta, Utah.

Individuals will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining all the components of the solution mining facility and performing regular, preventative maintenance of pumps, valves, control equipment, pipelines and similar equipment as needed, as well as some occasional reactive repair work.

The candidate will be required to work on a rotating shift to cover 24x7 operation. This candidate must be capable of following written instruction and procedures as well as verbal commands from the Lead Operator. The candidate should have good communication skills and will be expected to deal with operations personnel from other organizations as well as WSP customers and vendors.

Duties include making several daily rounds of Salt Cavern Wells and other related equipment to ensure proper operation and checking for faulty equipment, pipe leaks, malfunctioning pumps, valves, etc. Equipment operation such as starting, stopping, or adjusting speed of pumps as needed, valve alignment and general maintenance as well as entering data into WSP reporting system.

The candidate must adhere to established safety and operational procedures for the solution mining facility and follow all WSP internal protocols and procedures as well as for all environmental requirements.

Individuals seeking this position should be comfortable working with computers using basic software for reporting. Candidates must also be comfortable working with hand tools and be capable of safely lifting and pulling heavy equipment and tools safely.

The position reports to the Facility Supervisor / Lead Operator.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift, push and pull 75 pounds.

  • Ability to work in changing climate conditions.

  • Able to work in close quarters, work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing.

  • Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, FRC).

  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk & climb.

  • Use various hand tools and calibration equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of field experience

  • High School diploma or Equivalent experience

  • General Computer skills

  • Utah state driver’s license

  • Available for rotating shifts as in days, nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic Mechanical experience including fluid piping systems.

  • Basic Electrical experience include troubleshooting and repair knowledge of pneumatic, electronic, and digital transmitters and controllers, switches, and other process instrumentation.

  • Preventative Maintenance Programs experience

  • Equipment Operating and Rigging Certifications

  • Ideally, knowledge of ASME, API, and ANSI national codes
