WSP USA On-Call Senior Lead Electrical Engineer in Tucson, Arizona

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an On-Call Senior Lead Electrical Engineer for our Tucson, AZ office. Be involved in projects with our Mining Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

  • Involvement in the design of electrical power supply systems mining, water and tailings projects

  • Contribute to projects with a major focus on project delivery, identifying potential problems and managing client expectations

  • Prepare specifications, reports, calculations, and technical evaluations

  • Support technical and project execution activities such as electrical equipment procurement packages, preparing project estimates, etc.

  • Liaise with internal and external clients regularly to ensure project objectives are being managed and achieved in alignment with expectations

  • Provide direction and markups to CAD drafters on equipment layouts, single line diagrams, connection diagrams, grounding, conduit, etc.

  • Mentor junior engineers

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, preferably in an EPC environment

  • Effective communication (written and verbal) and problem-solving skills

  • Working knowledge of all phases of engineering (conceptual stage through to detail design)

  • Experience with power system analysis, grounding design and lighting design software applications

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.

  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous electrical engineering experience on mining projects

  • Professional Engineer’s licensure in Arizona, Nevada or other states where WSP operates
